Doctor — documents required

Every document below maps to a named Indian regulator. This is the same checklist our reviewers work from, published so there are no surprises.

Who this checklist is for

A registered practitioner who wants to receive international referrals. 7 documents are mandatory and 6 are optional but speed up review.

Mandatory documents for doctor registration

1. Medical council registration certificate

Number required Expiry tracked Checked against the official register
2. Medical Council registration certificate

Your NMC or State Medical Council registration certificate, showing current active status. The registration number and the name must match your identity document exactly. We check the number against the council register before your profile goes live.

Number required Expiry tracked Checked against the official register
3. MBBS / BDS degree certificate

4. Degree and specialisation certificates

MBBS or BDS plus any postgraduate qualification — MD, MS, MDS, DM, MCh. Upload them as one PDF if you can. Degrees must be from a UGC-recognised university or the National Board of Examinations. Only specialties you can evidence will appear on your profile.

5. Identity proof

Passport, PAN card, or a MASKED Aadhaar. If you use Aadhaar, mask the first eight digits — DigiLocker will generate a masked copy for you. We store the document image, never the number itself. Passport or DigiLocker is preferable to an Aadhaar scan.

6. Professional indemnity insurance

The policy schedule showing the sum insured and the validity period, and covering the specialty you practise. Cover must be active — we track the expiry date and your listing is suspended automatically when it lapses.

Number required Expiry tracked
7. Signed consent to be listed

Optional documents

Postgraduate degree certificate

Passport, driving licence or voter ID

Hospital appointment letter

ABDM Healthcare Professional ID (HPR)

Optional but recommended. Your Healthcare Professional Registry ID from the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission — the DigiLocker-verified certificate or your profile QR code. It speeds up verification considerably.

How we handle your documents

Files are encrypted at rest and every time one is opened we record who opened it and when — including our own administrators. Access links expire after five minutes. We keep each document only for the retention period set against it, then destroy it automatically while keeping the record that it was handled properly.

Why we ask for a masked Aadhaar rather than a full one

Where Aadhaar is offered as identity proof, mask the first eight digits — DigiLocker will generate a masked copy for you. We store the document image and never the number. A passport or a DigiLocker-issued document is better still, and any of them is acceptable.
