The medical visa

An Indian medical visa is issued against an invitation letter from the treating hospital. We facilitate yours once a treatment plan is agreed — you do not need to chase the hospital for it.

Attendant visas for accompanying family, usually up to two people, are applied for at the same time. Requirements vary by embassy, so we send you a checklist specific to your country rather than a generic list.

What your embassy will typically ask for

  • The hospital invitation letter, which we provide
  • A passport valid for at least six months
  • Medical reports supporting the treatment
  • Proof of funds or a sponsor letter
  • Return travel booking

Requirements change and differ by mission. Treat this as a starting point and use the checklist we send you.

Arriving

You are met at arrivals by name and driven to your accommodation or straight to the hospital. Every transfer during your stay is arranged. If you need an interpreter, they are there for consultations and consent discussions, not just for greetings.

Questions we are asked most

How do I start?
Send us the patient’s reports — scans, discharge summaries, biopsy results, whatever you have — along with their age and a short description of the problem. We come back with a written medical opinion and an indicative cost, usually within two working days. There is no charge for this and no obligation.
What if I do not have any medical reports?
That is common and it is not a problem. Tell us what has been diagnosed and what treatment has been suggested locally. A specialist will tell you which investigations are worth doing before you travel, so you do not repeat tests unnecessarily.
My reports are not in English. What do I do?
Send them anyway. We have them translated before they reach the specialist, at no cost to you.
How long will I need to stay in India?
It varies by procedure and is shown on each treatment page — days in hospital and total days in India, separately. As a rough guide: a stent is about twelve days, bypass surgery about three weeks, a transplant two months.
Can family travel with me?
Yes, and we recommend it. Attendant visas for up to two family members are applied for alongside yours. We arrange accommodation near the hospital for them.
Will someone meet me at the airport?
Yes. You are met at arrivals by name and taken directly to your accommodation or the hospital. Every transfer during your stay is arranged.
