Questions and answers

The things families actually ask us, answered plainly.

Getting started

How do I start?
Send us the patient’s reports — scans, discharge summaries, biopsy results, whatever you have — along with their age and a short description of the problem. We come back with a written medical opinion and an indicative cost, usually within two working days. There is no charge for this and no obligation.
What if I do not have any medical reports?
That is common and it is not a problem. Tell us what has been diagnosed and what treatment has been suggested locally. A specialist will tell you which investigations are worth doing before you travel, so you do not repeat tests unnecessarily.
My reports are not in English. What do I do?
Send them anyway. We have them translated before they reach the specialist, at no cost to you.

Costs and payment

Is the cost you quote the final price?
No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is being careless. What we give you is an estimate from the hospital based on the reports available before you travel. The final bill depends on what is found during treatment. What we can promise is that the estimate is itemised, that we explain exactly what is excluded, and that you are told about any change before it is incurred.
What is not included in the estimate?
Flights, visa fees, accommodation outside the hospital, food for accompanying family, and any complication requiring extended intensive care. Room upgrades above the quoted category are also extra. These are the costs families are most often unprepared for, so we list them explicitly.
How and when do I pay?
The hospital bills you directly for treatment — we never take treatment money. A deposit is usually paid on admission and the balance on discharge. Our own coordination services are quoted separately and most are free.

Travel and visas

How long will I need to stay in India?
It varies by procedure and is shown on each treatment page — days in hospital and total days in India, separately. As a rough guide: a stent is about twelve days, bypass surgery about three weeks, a transplant two months.
Can family travel with me?
Yes, and we recommend it. Attendant visas for up to two family members are applied for alongside yours. We arrange accommodation near the hospital for them.
Will someone meet me at the airport?
Yes. You are met at arrivals by name and taken directly to your accommodation or the hospital. Every transfer during your stay is arranged.

Hospitals and doctors

How do you choose the hospitals?
We verify registration with the issuing authority, check accreditation certificate numbers against the accrediting body, and sign a listing agreement before a hospital appears on this site. Accreditation is displayed with its certificate number and expiry date, not just a logo.
Can I choose the hospital and the doctor?
Yes. We will give you a recommendation and our reasoning, but the decision is yours. If you want a second opinion from a different hospital before deciding, we will arrange it.
What if something goes wrong?
Your coordinator stays with the case. Clinical decisions belong to the treating doctor and the hospital, and we will not interfere with them — but we will make sure you understand what is being proposed and that your questions reach the right person.

After treatment

What happens after I go home?
You get a discharge summary written so your local doctor can act on it, a video review with your treating surgeon, and help sourcing medication where you live. Follow-up is included, not an upsell.
