About Ellora Caves (Verul)
Verul is the more astonishing of the two sites and the closer. Cave 16, the Kailasa temple, was excavated from the top down out of a single piece of rock — no blocks were carried in, only stone taken away, an estimated two hundred thousand tonnes of it. That three religious traditions carved their monuments beside one another over four centuries, without destroying each other's work, is the part visitors tend to remember. Allow more time than you think for Kailasa alone.

Ellora Caves (Verul) is approximately 30 km from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where several of our partner hospitals are located. Half a day. Easily combined with Grishneshwar and Daulatabad.
