Salim Ali Lake
A walled lake beside the old city gate, named for the ornithologist, with a walking path around it.
About Salim Ali Lake
Mughal in origin and known then as Khiziri Talab, it was renamed for Salim Ali, the ornithologist. It is a genuine morning-walk lake rather than an attraction — a level circuit, trees, and a reasonable number of birds. For a patient cleared for gentle walking, it is the easiest option in the city.
Visiting Salim Ali Lake from the hospital
Salim Ali Lake is approximately 3 km from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where several of our partner hospitals are located. An hour. We can arrange a car and driver, and if you are travelling with a recovering patient we will check the plan with the treating doctor first.
